Dreaming of Lapland

On our way to Lapland

Home Sweet Home
Dreaming of Lapland.

Of snowy scenes
Of ginger biscuits
Of the mysteries of the eight seasons.

Honest birch trunks
Plumy white branches,
The spirit of Christmas
Infused into every aspect of life.

Secret dreams come true
When you beat the drum three times,
Shows the magic of intent expressed through ritual,
Brings what is desired.

I long for the open fires
With that heartwarming smell;
Drinking hot berry juice
Watching breath turn icy.

The beauty of the wooden buildings
Blending with the nature.
There is a feeling of balance; of fairness
And for the children, magical memories
To last a lifetime.

I hope I carry a little bit back with me,
A new perspective on life,
An enthusiasm for change.
Teaching our boys how to be in the world
To embrace change and learn how to make the best of things.
I learn to keep our family on track as a matter of priority
And for it to be fun and life-changing for us all.

Thank you Universe for the opportunity of this wonderful trip and thank you Auntie Lulu for taking us with you xxx

Being Marram Grass

It’s the perfect day.
Brilliant sunshine warms;
And we have come out en masse to embrace it,
Braving the cold breeze.

The sea is magnificent blue with ripples,
Clean waves breaking with precision and delight.
Victorious white horses race for shore,
Manes perfectly back-lit.

And I sit on sand
Marvelling at patterns made by marram shadows.
I am cocooned out of the wind
Drinking in the sunlight
The sound of the sea
The tranquility, the peace.

On my walk with mantras
my heart has opened
And I feel the pain inside.
I allow it just to be,
Because it is my truth.
I accept my sadness as the gift it is intended to be.
True compassion is built from heartfelt emotion,
Regardless of cause.

I remember feeling like a tree,
And wonder now can I be grass?
Growing in the dunes,
Bending to every whim of the wind;
But strong and deeply, snugly rooted.

I feel a waiting for something
That may not happen for a long time,
And the patience that goes with that.
Steadfast belief, unwavering;
Nourished by crystal grains of sand
Close in around me like a heavy cloak.

I see darkness and light at the same time.
I experience the duality but don’t need to resist it.
I accept them both as I accept both parts in myself,
Not wrong or right, but a way of being.

I am rooted, earthy, dark and secretive
But I am also a dancer;
The wind and rain and seaspray my partners.
I am tall and slender with graceful limbs
I never tire.

Athough at times I do stand still
And take the time simply to be.
Sensing the beauty and the wonder of the world around me.
And the song of the sea- the mantra of my life.

I am at one with the Dune and the whole world by extension.
I do not even see myself as an individual plant
Because our roots are all connected.
I can’t tell where one ends and one starts…

And so I AM
Knowing I am at one with my world.
